Be gentle with yourself today

According to a Mental Health Charity, up to 10 million people in Great Britain could need mental health support after the pandemic ends. The analyses highlighted that adults and children will need support for depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress in the months and years to come. 2020 has been a year like no other, we could not never have foreseen what this year would bring on 31 December 2019 on the threshold of a new year.
My heart’s desire is by reading my blogs, that you will find the hope, support, comfort, strength and signposting to healing, which can help lessen the distress at the challenging times that we are facing. My message has always been a message of hope. Remember your ‘wins’, however small they are. The fact that you are here, reading this blog, is a win in itself, and tells me you are moving forward, no matter how small the steps up. By just being here, reading this blog, tells me that there is strength in the core part of your being. You are strong even if you don’t feel it. By continuing to read this blog, you are telling me that you want change.
Today, I would like you to give yourself a gift, the gift of grace. Grace is being kind, approving and gentle with yourself. What do I mean by the gift of grace? It is the gift of embracing yourself and being self-accepting towards yourself. If we are kind, patient and appreciative of others, why can’t we embrace those wonderful qualities in ourselves? Grace is not about beating ourselves up or being self- reprimanding or harsh towards ourselves. Grace is the awareness and recognition that you have done your very best and put your best foot forward. You may not have completed the things that you had planned to do this year. You may feeling depressed. You may be disheartened that you have lapsed in many areas. It’s OK. Don’t beat yourself up. Give yourself the gift of grace today. The main thing is that you have given your very best no matter the outcome and that is sufficient in itself. Be gentle with yourself. Will you grant yourself the gift of grace today?
